Age Calculator — How Old Am I? | CalcifyAll

How Old Am I? (The Short Answer)

Short answer: your exact age is the time between your date of birth and today, counted in full calendar years, then months, then days. Enter your birth date in the calculator above and you get it instantly — no math required.

Worked example: someone born on 15 March 1990 is 36 years, 6 months and 17 days old on 2 October 2026 — 36 full years to 15 March 2026, 6 full months to 15 September 2026, and 17 days after that.

How to Calculate Your Age by Hand (Step by Step)

Short answer: write both dates as day / month / year, subtract each column, and borrow from the next column when the top number is smaller — the same borrowing you learned in school.

  1. Days: subtract the birth day from the current day. If the current day is smaller, borrow the previous month’s days (28, 29, 30 or 31) and add them first.
  2. Months: subtract the birth month from the current month (minus 1 if you borrowed for days). If it is smaller, borrow 12 months from the year.
  3. Years: subtract the birth year from the current year (minus 1 if you borrowed for months). The result is always rounded down to completed years.

Worked example: born 15 November 2006, today is 2 August 2026.

Days: 2 − 15 won’t work → borrow July’s 31 days: 33 − 15 = 18 days
Months: 7 (after borrowing) − 11 won’t work → borrow a year: 19 − 11 = 8 months
Years: 2025 − 2006 = 19 years
Age: 19 years, 8 months, 18 days

Month-end quirk: dates at the end of short months can be read two ways — from 28 February to 31 March is either “1 month and 3 days” or “about 1 month” depending on convention. This calculator uses true calendar months: it counts 28 February → 28 March as one full month, then adds the 3 leftover days.

How Many Days Old Am I? (Leap Years Explained)

Short answer: multiply your completed years by 365, add one day for every 29 February you have lived through, then add the days since your last birthday.

Worked example: born 1 January 2000, counting to 1 January 2025 — 25 × 365 = 9,125 days, plus 7 leap days (2000, 2004, 2008, 2012, 2016, 2020 and 2024) = 9,132 days exactly. The same birthday counted to 1 January 2026 gives 9,497 days.

  • 15 years contain 5,479 days including leap years (1 January 2000 → 1 January 2015).
  • Your 10,000-day milestone lands just after 27 years and 4 months — for a 1 January 2000 birthday, that is 19 May 2027.
  • A 30-year-old has lived roughly 10,957 days.

The ‘Age in units’ tab above does all of this instantly, and also converts your age to weeks, hours and minutes. A year averages 365.25 days because of leap years.

What Day of the Week Was I Born?

Short answer: the calculator shows it with your result — for example, 1 January 2000 was a Saturday.

The Gregorian calendar repeats its weekday pattern every 400 years, so the weekday of any date — past or future — can be computed exactly. Your ‘Birthday countdown’ result also shows which weekday your next birthday falls on, which is handy for party planning.

How Old Will I Be in 2050? (Future Dates Explained)

Short answer: switch to the ‘Age between dates’ tab, enter your birth date and the future date, and the calculator does the rest.

Worked example: born 4 March 2005 — on 1 January 2050 you will be 44 years, 9 months and 28 days old (44 full years to 4 March 2049, 9 months to 4 December 2049, 28 days after that). The same tab answers “how old was I on…” questions about the past, such as a wedding day or a graduation.

What Is My Zodiac Sign, Chinese Zodiac Animal and Birthstone?

Short answer: your Western zodiac sign comes from your birth month and day, your Chinese zodiac animal from your birth year, and your birthstone from your birth month. The calculator shows your Western and Chinese zodiac automatically — the full tables are below.

Western zodiac signs (tropical dates)

Sign Dates Sign Dates
Aries 21 Mar – 19 Apr Libra 23 Sep – 22 Oct
Taurus 20 Apr – 20 May Scorpio 23 Oct – 21 Nov
Gemini 21 May – 20 Jun Sagittarius 22 Nov – 21 Dec

Chinese zodiac animals (by birth year)

The animal follows the lunar year, which starts at Lunar New Year in late January or February — someone born in January or early February may belong to the previous year’s animal. Lunar New Year 2026 falls on 17 February, so January 2026 babies are Snakes, not Horses.

A few months also have modern alternate stones: June (alexandrite), October (tourmaline), November (citrine) and December (tanzanite).

How Is Age Counted in Korea and China? (Age Systems Around the World)

Short answer: most of the world counts age the Western way — 0 at birth, plus one on each birthday. East Asia traditionally did it differently.

System Age at birth When it increases
International / Western 0 On each birthday
Traditional Chinese 1 At Lunar New Year
Traditional Korean (before 2023) 1 On 1 January

Worth knowing: South Korea officially switched to the international system on 28 June 2023, so traditional “Korean age” — born at 1, with everyone turning a year older on New Year’s Day — is no longer used for legal or official purposes there.

What Is the Difference Between Chronological Age and Biological Age?

Short answer: chronological age is the exact time elapsed since your birth — the years, months and days this calculator produces. Biological age estimates how old your body seems, based on health markers such as fitness, blood pressure, cholesterol and lifestyle.

The quotable version: chronological age is how long you have lived; biological age is how well your body has aged. Two 40-year-olds can have biological ages years apart — regular exercise, good sleep and not smoking are the biggest levers for keeping biological age below chronological age.

Who Are the Oldest People Ever? (Plus Celebrities Turning 50 in 2026)

Short answer: the longest verified human lifespan belongs to Jeanne Calment of France — 122 years and 164 days (21 February 1875 – 4 August 1997). The oldest verified man was Jiroemon Kimura of Japan — 116 years and 54 days (19 April 1897 – 12 June 2013).

Celebrities turning 50 in 2026 — all born in 1976:

Celebrity Born Turns 50
Reese Witherspoon 22 March 1976 22 March 2026
Colin Farrell 31 May 1976 31 May 2026
Benedict Cumberbatch 19 July 1976 19 July 2026
Alicia Silverstone 4 October 1976 4 October 2026
Ryan Reynolds 23 October 1976 23 October 2026

What Can I Legally Do at My Age? (Age Milestones Around the World)

Short answer: the big milestones differ by country — the United States is stricter on alcohol (21) than most of the world, while voting sits at 18 nearly everywhere.

Milestone United States United Kingdom India
Drive 16 (full licence; learner’s permit at 15–16, varies by state) 17 18 (16 for gearless two-wheelers)
Vote 18 18 18
Buy alcohol 21 18 18–25 (varies by state)
Full retirement benefits 66–67 (Social Security, by birth year) 66 (State Pension) 60 (most government jobs)

US specifics: the voting age of 18 was set by the 26th Amendment (1971), the drinking age of 21 by federal law (1984), and Social Security’s full retirement age is 66 for those born 1943–1954, rising to 67 for those born in 1960 or later. Fun fact: Austria lets 16-year-olds vote in national elections.

Age Calculator FAQs

How do I calculate my age from my date of birth?
Subtract your birth date from today’s date: count the full years first, then the remaining months, then the remaining days. A quick shortcut for the year: take the current year minus your birth year, then subtract 1 if your birthday has not happened yet this year. The calculator above does the full calendar math — including leap years — automatically.
How old am I if I was born in 1990?
In 2026 you are 36 if your birthday has already passed, or 35 if it has not happened yet. The rule is simple: 2026 − 1990 = 36, minus 1 when your birthday is still ahead. The same rule works for any year — for example, someone born in 2000 turns 26 in 2026.
How many days old am I?
Multiply your completed years by 365, add one day for every leap year you have lived through, then add the days since your last birthday. For example, someone born on 1 January 2000 had lived exactly 9,132 days by 1 January 2025. The ‘Age in units’ tab above does this instantly — and also shows your age in weeks, hours and minutes.
What is the difference between running age and completed age?
Completed age is the number of full years you have finished — if you are 20, you have completed 20 years. Running age is the year you are currently in: the same person is “in their 21st year”, or “running 21”. Official documents, schools and insurers almost always use completed age.
How does the calculator handle leap years and February 29 birthdays?
Leap years are counted exactly — a day only counts if it really happened on the calendar. February 29 birthdays use the legal standard applied in most countries: in non-leap years the birthday is observed on February 28. Your total-days count stays exact because it counts real calendar days.
Can I calculate my age on a past or future date — for example, how old will I be in 2050?
Yes. Use the ‘Age between dates’ tab and enter any target date. For example, someone born on 4 March 2005 will be 44 years, 9 months and 28 days old on 1 January 2050. It works for past dates too — handy for “how old was I when…” questions.
How many days are left until my next birthday?
Open the ‘Birthday countdown’ tab and enter your date of birth. The calculator shows the exact number of days remaining, the date of your next birthday and the day of the week it falls on — plus the age you will turn.
What day of the week was I born on?
The calculator shows this automatically with your result — for instance, 1 January 2000 was a Saturday. The Gregorian calendar repeats its weekday pattern every 400 years, which is why the weekday of any past or future date can be computed exactly.
What is my zodiac sign, Chinese zodiac animal and birthstone?
Your Western zodiac sign comes from your birth month and day — for example, 15 March is Pisces. Your Chinese zodiac animal comes from your birth year — 2026 is the Year of the Horse. Your birthstone comes from your birth month — March’s is aquamarine. The calculator shows your Western and Chinese zodiac; the full sign, animal and birthstone tables are in the guide above.
What is the difference between chronological age and biological age?
Chronological age is the exact time elapsed since your birth — the years, months and days this calculator produces. Biological age reflects how old your body seems based on health markers like fitness, blood pressure and lifestyle, and it can be higher or lower than your chronological age.
Why do two age calculators sometimes show different results?
Almost always because of leap-day handling and whether partial months are counted as true calendar months or as fixed 30-day blocks. This calculator uses true calendar arithmetic — real month lengths and real leap years — which is the standard used for official documents.
Is this age calculator accurate enough for official documents?
The math is calendar-exact, so the figure it produces matches what any correct calculation would give. For legal, medical or government use, though, always rely on your official records — birth certificate or passport — because the document, not the calculator, is the legal proof of age.
